Quiet Current
Some pieces are made from materials. Others are made from memories.
Quiet Current was created for my son’s 18th birthday, bringing together small pieces of the person he was, the person he was becoming, and the things that had quietly shaped him along the way.
At its heart is a fish he made during a pottery class—a piece of his own hands and childhood, preserved within something entirely new. A tiny piano honors his love of music, while a small photograph of him and his name, formed from beads, are tucked among the layers.
The ocean-like surface becomes a kind of memory field: beautiful, restless, and full of things worth looking closer to find.
It is a portrait without being a portrait. A birthday gift that became a time capsule.
Quiet Current is about growing up without leaving everything behind—the people, passions, and little pieces of ourselves that continue moving beneath the surface.
